Theatre to explain euro arrival to Romanies in Slovak settlements
The Kosice-based Romany Theatre Romathan will explain to Romanies living in settlements the introduction of the euro planned for next year, on the initiative of the Slovak National Bank (NBS), theatre director Karel Adam has told CTK.
The bank’s project is designed to inform through theatre performances in Romany language about the change of currency in settlements in Central and East Slovakia.
NBS spokeswoman Jana Kovacova told CTK this is one of the banks’ activities aimed at inhabitants with a limited access to information.
Adam said the scenario of the performance is to be ready in May and the theatre will then tour Romany communities.
"It will be a performance combining music, dance and drama with special scenes," Adam said.
Theatre Romathan was established in 1992 and now has 33 members.
The NBS has signed a contract with it for 40 theatre performances, Kovacova said, adding they will be funded from means the bank earmarked for the euro information campaign.
