Slovakia: Blockade of Neo-Nazi march in Bratislava tomorrow
15 March 2013
1 minute read
On Saturday 16 March a non-violent blockade of a neo-Nazi march will take place in Bratislava. The blockade will start at 14:00 on Náměstí SNP.
As in previous years, followers of the ultra-right have convened their so-called "March for an Independent Slovakia" on the occasion of the 74th anniversary of the creation of the first Slovak state during WWII. That state sent tens of thousands of people to their deaths.
The "Nazi-Free Bratislava" event is a response to this manifestation of hatred. Organizers note on their website (http://bratislavabeznackov.org/) that they are calling for an open and tolerant society.
