LIVE BROADCAST AT 12:00 CET: Ceremony for Romani scholarship recipients
On Friday, 1 November, a ceremony awarding scholarships to 101 Romani students will be held in Kino Přítomnost in Prague. A record number of students will receive scholarships through the ROMEA organization to achieve their academic and professional aims. The ceremony starts at noon and ROMEA TV will broadcast it live online.
The ceremony will be attended by the scholarship recipients themselves, their families, representatives of ROMEA, and significant supporters of the program such as the Albatros Foundation, Bader Philanthropies, and other partners.
“Each student shows us that thanks to their determination and support it is possible for them to make their dreams come true. We are proud to be able to award scholarships to the highest number of recipients ever in our history,” said Štefan Balog, manager of the ROMEA scholarship program.
The program was launched in 2016 and supports Romani students by providing them with financing, mentoring and educational opportunities. After the ceremony, the 24th BARUVAS meeting will take place, concentrating on strengthening the scholarship recipients’ Romani identity and personal growth. The meeting will include author Patrik Banga reading from his award-winning novel and other cultural events.
