Václav Sivák has dominated the gala evening of K1 kickboxing and professional boxing held at the Lucerna venue in Prague, Czech Republic to defend his WAKO PRO title, defeating his rival Anass Ahmidouch, a Spanish fighter of Moroccan origin. Sivák has now scored his 25th straight victory.

During the five-round match, Sivák dominated the entire time and the entire Lucerna venue pushed him on to victory by chanting “Sivák, Sivák!” The Moroccan went to the mat more than once, but did make it through all five rounds, although he only survived the final round by never leaving the ropes.

In the final seconds, Sivák slipped more than once, but ultimately the judges’ decisions were unequivocal and he brought home the WAKO PRO belt. “It’s my first time in the Lucerna and I really enjoyed it,” he said just after his victorious match, thanking his fans, sponsors and trainers.

His father, Václav Sivák, Sr., who is also one of his trainers, was not absolutely satisfied with his son’s performance. “His opponent was of quite high quality and Vašek took care of it and won, but he should have taken him down in the third round already,” he told news server Romea.cz after the match.

The gala evening of K1 kickboxing and professional boxing has been a traditional high point of the martial arts in the Czech Republic for 15 years. This year it was held at the Lucerna, and the conveners were returning thereby to a First Czechoslovak Republic (1918-1938) tradition, as the history of Czechoslovak boxing was written there.

To fight at the Lucerna in Prague once meant belonging to the absolute top tiers of the sport, and the conveners stuck to that tradition this year as well, inviting top fighters from the martial arts scene to take each other on in the ring. In addition to Sivák, other Czech stars were introduced, such as Tomáš Hron, who received a cup for his victorious match and entered the hall of fame, or the fighters Kamil Káninský, Jan Šindelář and Klára Strnadová.
