VIDEO: Discussion after screening of documentary film “Life and Death in Tanvald”
On the occasion of International Romani Day, a series of concerts, a debate
and a screening of the documentary film “Life and Death in Tanvald” (“Život a
smrt v Tanvaldu”) were held at the Cross Club in Prague on Sunday, 7 April 2013.
The ROMEA civic association invited one of the producers, Vít Klusák, to discuss
the film.
A trailer for the film can be seen online at

The filmmakers mapped the tense relations between Czech and Romani people in the
town of Tanvald, where a Czech pensioner shot a 22-year-old Romani man to death
on New Year’s Day 2012. The case was eventually ruled one of necessary
self-defense and the shooter has not been prosecuted.
The 7 April discussion was moderated by Richard Samko of Czech Television.
ROMEA TV has posted a video of the entire discussion (in Czech only)
here.
