Sokolov, Czech Republic: Police have apprehended author of deceptive Facebook post alleging a Romani boy was stabbed by a Ukrainian - no such incident has happened
A deceptive post on Facebook has started to spread in different variations alleging that an 11-year-old Romani boy was stabbed in Sokolov, Czech Republic by an alleged Ukrainian. This was a deceptive, untrue allegation and police have already interrogated the author and are deciding how to legally qualify the crime he has committed.
“Several hours after the author published his post, detectives in Sokolov established who he was and then summoned him for interrogation to give a statement. The result? The post was deleted and a new one was published, but this is not the end for the author, we are currently in the phase of establishing the legal qualification of his crime,” the Police of the Czech Republic tweeted, republishing the post at issue.
“The detectives’ fast reaction succeeded in preventing the disinformation from spreading further. The writing of hateful posts and spreading hate is actually not ok,” the police tweeted.
