The Inspectorate of the Municipal Police in Prague, Czech Republic is investigating two patrol officers who reportedly failed to intervene against a man who gave the Nazi salute and shouted "Death to Ukraine!" in public, according to the Seznam Zprávy website. According to the spokesperson for the Municipal Police, Irena Seifertová, the Inspectorate will decide whether to transfer the case to the state police.

The news server reminded its readers that those convicted of supporting Nazism or committing hate speech against any group could face up to five years in prison in the Czech Republic. The taxi was being driven by a driver from Ukraine and was targeted for attack in late June in front of a concert venue in the Prague quarter of Troja.

As the taxi drove through the fans outside the venue, a man who was walking past kicked the passenger side door so forcefully as to dent it. According to an eyewitness, a woman accompanying the man also kicked the vehicle.

The driver then called local police over the incident. The alleged aggressor then began shouting “Death to Ukrainians, Glory to Putin, Sieg Heil!” and raised his right arm in the Nazi salute, according to news server Seznam Zprávy.

The local patrol officers who responded allowed the man to leave the scene and did not respond to his behavior at all, the news server reports. One of the local patrolmen, according to Seznam Zprávy, said immediately after the incident that he had not seen the man giving the Nazi salute.

Another member of the patrol explained their procedure by saying they could not intervene without evidence. While one of the patrolmen was wearing a body camera, he did not film the incident, according to the news server.
