International Romani Day events in 2023
International Romani Day (8 April) is fast approaching and this year a number of events are taking place around the world and in the Czech Republic. The day marks the congress of Romani people from various European countries that was held in Orpington, near London, England, from 7 to 12 April 1971.
Celebrations of this important day are also held in the Czech Republic every year, accompanied by a rich cultural programme. This year is no exception, so we would like to bring you a few invitations to events related to the celebration of International Romani Day.
Traditionally, the biggest celebrations in Prague are organized by the ARA ART association. In Brno, the second-largest city in the Czech Republic, several organizations have joined together this year as they have in years past to organize the “Days of Romani Culture”, and celebrations will also take place in other cities such as Mělník, Jihlava, Ostrava, Plzeň, Nový Jičín, Breclav and others.
