Greens call for investigation of Czech President's aide

The Czech Green Party has called on the National Security Agency (Národní bezpečnostní úřad – NBÚ) to investigate Ladislav Jakl, secretary to Czech President Klaus, and to revoke his security clearance if warranted. An interview with Jakl has been published in a book entitled “Ten Thousand Extremists” (“Deset tisíc extremistů”), which was co-authored by Robert Fürych, the manager of the neo-Nazi music group Conflict 88, according to news server iDNES.cz.

Jakl believes all bands, including “punks and Nazis”, have the right to freedom of speech. When asked by Czech daily Mf DNES how the interview was arranged and whether he knew who Robert Fürych was at the time, he did not give an answer to those questions.

The Green Party has asked the NBÚ to investigate Jakl and revoke his security clearance if warranted. “The Greens are asking the National Security Agency (Národní bezpečnostní úřad – NBÚ) to investigate and, if warranted, to revoke the security clearance of Ladislav Jakl. His ties could pose a threat to the Czech state,” Czech Green Party leader Ondřej Liška wrote in an SMS message sent to the media.

Liška says Jakl has lost credibility because his statements support groups that oppose the constitutional order of the Czech Republic. The ban on discrimination and the Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms are part of that order.
