Emil Voráč: It is unbelievable that some Romani people are able to support disinformation purveyors or fans of the mass murderers Hitler and Putin

It has long not been the case that those most influenced by disinformation are those who are less educated. Disinformation is actually disseminated through a broad spectrum of society from various groups, from the less-educated to intellectuals from different groups of professions, including political cowboys, physicians, psychologists, mathematicians, etc.

The difference between the intellectuals and the less-educated, however, is marked. Most intellectuals do not believe what they disseminate, but it can be useful to them, whether financially or politically in order to gain power.

Disinformation frequently has so much influence that, for example, many Romani people here are now able to support the purveyors who do not just spread disinformation, but who also doubt the Holocaust and spread the ideology of Nazism. They admire people such as Adolf Hitler or the mass murderer of our own times, Vladimir Putin.

We are genuinely encountering this phenomenon absolutely everywhere today and it is beginning to be dangerous. The disinformation purveyors shield themselves in the democratic system through freedom of speech, they claim to have the right to spread such delusions.

What is interesting is that most of them would vote for the communists, which means for a totalitarian regime that under no circumstances would allow them to express themselves freely or to disagree with government policy. Dear Romani people, what has become of us?

Are you all actually able to support those who honor the murderers of our ancestors, those who wanted to annihilate us and the Jewish people forever, those who today would censure us just because we are ethnic Roma? Do you not believe this is whom you are supporting?

Take a look at the last few years and think about it. When the Nazis were shouting “Gypsies to the gas chambers!” during the hate marches which I and many of my colleagues stood up to, they didn’t just mean the actual “inadaptables”, but all Romani people without exception.

Even if they had just been attacking “problematic” people, that would still merely be an invocation of the legacy of Adolf Hitler. Yes, today the situation is serious worldwide, but can we talk about who got us into this situation?

If one state attacks another sovereign state, starts a war, and there are already a hundred thousand victims by now, then it should be clear to all of us who is responsible. As you can see, though, it isn’t.

The pro-Russian supporters will accuse the USA of setting this up, or will even discuss the “denazification” of Ukraine. Others would give up on defeating Russia just so we could have cheaper gas (which we would never have had anyway).

Some foolish individuals believe the Czech Republic could somehow become the only independent, rich country in the world. The situation is quite simple, though: Do we wish there was no war?

If so, then we cannot support murderers and oppressors! It might also aid matters if we stopped spending our time on things we don’t understand.
