Czech Republic: Benefit concert for Romani child who survived antigypsyist arson in 2009
On Friday, 15 December a benefit concert will be held in Prague’s Studio ALTA club for Natálka Kudriková, the Romani girl who survived a racist arson attack more than eight years ago with life-threatening third-degree and fourth-degree burns over 80 % of her body. The attack was perpetrated in the late night hours of 18 April and early morning hours of 19 April 2009 in the town of Vítkov (Opava district).

Four Czech neo-Nazis used three Molotov cocktails to set fire to the Romani family’s home. Three of the people who were in the building at the time suffered physical injury as a result of the blaze.
Natálka was not yet two years old at the time and was the victim most seriously injured. “The state of her health, to this day, requires costly daily care. The proceeds of the concert will be donated to her family to cover at least part of those costs,” benefit organizers say.
Concert-goers can look forward to performances by the Slovak music group “Živé kvety“, which recorded a song about Natálka called “Hranice” (“Borders”) in 2010. Other performers will be the Romani band Terne Čhave, the “Byl pes” group, Jarda Svoboda, and Fanda Holy & The Reverends.
