Czech Government Commissioner for Roma Minority Affairs expresses her condolences to the victims of the mass shooting at the Faculty of Arts: Mi del o Del lenge lokhi phuv

Czech Government Commissioner for Roma Minority Affairs Lucie Fuková has expressed her horror and sorrow over the loss of life at Charles University's Faculty of Arts (FF UK). She also praised the professional intervention by the Czech Police and said it likely saved lives.
The shooting on Thursday resulted in 14 dead, some of whom were students, and 25 injured. The perpetrator took his own life after committing the horrible crime.
“I am saddened and appalled by the loss of life at Charles University’s Faculty of Arts. My sympathies are with the families of these innocent victims and also with all of the students and staff of FF UK and the rest of those impacted by yesterday’s events,” Fuková said.
“We must all stick together in such moments irrespective of our differences. I thank the Police of the Czech Republic for their professional intervention, which most likely saved lives,” said Fuková, who also thanked Czech Interior Minister Vít Rakušan.
Yesterday several nonprofit organizations involved with the Romani minority in the Czech Republic expressed their condolences and sorrow to the bereaved after this tragic event. The ROMEA organization posted the following message to social media: “The ROMEA organization expresses our sincere condolences and deep sorrow to the families and relatives of the victims of the tragic shootings in the Czech Republic today and to all of the Charles University students, teachers and staff who were injured.
“We feel deep regret and our thoughts are with all those harmed and with the bereaved,” the Brno-based organization IQ Roma Servis posted to social media. The Khamoro organization, led by Emil Voráč, posted the following: “We express our sincere regret to the victims and the injured of the massacre at FF in Prague and sincere condolences to all the bereaved.”
Fuková also shared on Facebook several options for aiding the people affected by Thursday’s tragedy. She reminded her followers, for example, of the Charles University Endowment Fund collection and also recommended that people seek professional psychological aid by calling the In IUSTITIA crisis telephone line for the victims of bias crime and their loved ones.
The Czech Government Commissioner for Roma Minority Affairs also shared tips about how to speak about this tragedy with children, referencing the websites of the LOCIKA and Mezi řečí organizations, which are involved in addressing and preventing domestic violence. “We can also honor the memory of the victims on the official day of mourning, 23 December, at 12 noon with a minute of silence and by lighting candles at a cemetery,” she said.
“Mi del o Del lenge lokhi phuv, may the Lord God rest their souls and may the earth lie lightly upon them,” Fuková posted to social media.
