A young man who conspired with another in 2021 to bomb three embassies in Prague, Czech Republic has now been given a conditional 18-month prison sentence suspended for 2.5 years by the Regional Court in Brno. Both plotters shared extremist opinions, planned their terrorist action in very specific detail, searched online for instructions on how to make explosives and even tested some they produced, the judge said when handing down their sentences.

The youths were minors at the time of the crime. The verdict could still be appealed by either side to the High Court in Olomouc.

The would-be terrorists were planning their action for 19 April 2025 to mark the 30th anniversary of the terrorist massacre in Oklahoma City during which almost 170 people died and 900 were injured. Their plan was to attack the embassies of China, Israel and the USA.

One of the juveniles from South Moravia was 16 at the time he committed his crimes, while his fellow perpetrator, who already had a criminal record, was 17. The older conspirator had already been given a suspended sentence for a previous offense and the court considers him to be the main engineer and the initiator of the crime.

The older convict must now be under the supervision of a probation officer and attend courses in psychological and social training. The judge also stated in her ruling that this delinquent had been dreaming of a new, strong society without people such as “gypsies”, pornography producers and many others whom he hated.

The judge said the delinquent’s parents have failed in their upbringing of their son and are continuing to fail him. She said it was incomprehensible to her that they did not attend the reading of the verdict, but left their son to stand trial alone.

Prosecutor Petra Lastovecká said both of those now sentenced have been in custody for the last five months. The older perpetrator had no interest in a plea bargain because he does not believe he is guilty of the charges.
