Greek authorities work on case of British boy missing since 1991

Greek authorities have recently begun intensive work on the case of a British boy, Ben Needham, who disappeared without a trace in 1991 on the island of Kos. He was less than two years old at the time and a search for him back then yielded no results.

New evidence in the case is now being investigated, as the state prosecutor has received a photograph of a young man living in a Romani community in the nearby country of Cyprus. According to the British tabloid The Daily Mirror, he is now undergoing DNA tests.

The newspaper Greek Reporter was the first to report on the new developments. That paper said detectives received a video recording from an anonymous source, taken in a church in the town of Limassol, showing a man between 20 and 25 years of age.

That youth’s features are similar to those of a likeness of Ben Needham published by the British Police imagining what he would look like today. The case of the missing British boy has recently been spoken of a great deal in the context of the case of a blonde girl named Maria found living in a Romani camp in central Greece.

The girl was living in a family with whom she had no genetic connection. DNA analysis then proved that her biological parents live in Bulgaria, who voluntarily gave her up several years ago because they were in dire financial straits.
