Czech Republic: About 30 neo-Nazis gather in Prague, antifascists counter-protest
Roughly 30 right-wing radicals gathered today after 5 PM at the Černý Most housing estate in Prague. The event was organized by a group called the "Czech Lions" (Čeští lvi), who are a sort of ultra-right People’s Militia connected to the new right-wing extremist Democratic Workers’ Party (Demokratická strana pracujících – DSP).
The DSP was established after its members broke away from the Workers’ Social Justice Party (Dělnická strana sociální spravedlnosti – DSSS). A similar number of young antifascists protested against the presence of the neo-Nazis.
Pavel Sládek Matějný attempted to give the main speech of the event but was interrupted by the neo-Nazis’ opponents chanting the slogan "We don’t want neo-Nazis here!" and whistling him down. Matějný recently led a group of neo-Nazi street fighters in an anti-Romani demonstration in the town of Duchcov, where he shouted "This isn’t our route, it’s our town" before the right-wing extremists proceeded to assault police officers on the scene.
In Prague the police did not have to intervene today. The neo-Nazis dispersed at roughly 18:00.
