Czech Platform for Human Rights holds seminar on hate violence

The Platform for Human Rights, represented by spokespersons František Kostlán (ROMEA), Jana Smiggels Kavková (Czech Women’s Lobby), Lucie Otáhalová (a Strada), and ROMEA, o. p. s. invite you intend a seminar on "Human Rights and Hate Violence in the Czech Republic – Civil society and policy" on Monday, 15 June from 9:00 to 13:00 at the Chamber of Deputies in Prague (Sněmovní 4, Praha 1, Room No. 108A). The aim of the event is to bring politicians and other attendees a new perspective on the issue of human rights, focusing on the specific areas of discrimination and hate violence, through presentations by experienced people from various nonprofit organizations involved in human rights.

The event is being held under the auspices of Czech Human Rights Minister Jiří Dienstbier and the chair of the Subcommittee on Human Rights of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Czech MP Markéta Adamová. Opening remarks will be made by the chair of the Czech Helsinki Committee, Táňa Fischerová, by MP Adamová, and by Jarmila Balážová, press secretary to the Human Rights Minister.

Jindra Marešová, OSF Prague:  The Civil Society Approach to Hate Violence

Jana Vargovčíková, Amnesty International Czech Republic:  Discrimination of Romani Pupils in the Czech Education System

Zdeněk Ryšavý, ROMEA:  Inciting Hatred through the Media

František Kostlán, Platform for Human Rights:  Hate Violence against Roma and the Lives of People in Socially Excluded Localities

Pavel Čižinský, Multicultural Center Prague:  You were Immigrants in Egypt Yourselves – on Migrants and Refugees
